MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA - the beginning of the journey
Marina’s first experience creating unique jewelry occurred within the artisanal line of Maison Martin Margiela (also known as the mysterious line zero) back in 2007. It was here that the first capsule of unique jewelry, called “Over Mood,” was created, presented in Paris’s Colette and Moscow’s PODIUM. Notably, the “Opera” necklace, made from a decorative 19th-century grape cluster and modern pink mother-of-pearl embellishments (Winter 2007).

In 2016, Marina launched her jewelry brand, created in collaboration with a Parisian casting atelier owned by Maurice Loria, a renowned French sculptor who had been producing all the jewelry for Maison Martin Margiela since the 1990s.

The beginning
Midgard Paris’s participation in the Paris TRANOI (2016) was successful. The brand’s unique items are represented in L’ECLAIREUR, DOVER STREET MARKET, DAAD DATONE, LEFORM, and many other concept stores worldwide.

Apart from craft jewelry, Midgard Paris creates unique decorative items using shungite and other natural stones. These items are designed to harmonize spaces.

L’autorisation de sortie N*…
In May 2021, the first capsule of artisanal clothing by Midgard Paris, named AUTORISATION DE SORTIE N°… (Exit Permit N°…), dedicated to the end of quarantine, was created. This first collection of artisanal clothing of universal size, inlaid with stones, was created by the joint efforts of three participants of the historical craft line Maison Martin Margiela and the Higher School of Fashion MODE SPE in Lille.

Outside of seasons
The timeless skirt-dress and, subsequently, the “Matrix” jacket, inspired by Neo’s coat from the eponymous film, originate here. At that time, the team included three participants from the historical “zero” line of Maison Martin Margiela, including Marina and 18-year-old Mathilde de Tertr, undergoing her first internship under the guidance of Solange Durua, who teaches future designers the French technique of modelage français. Solange was a former classmate of Thierry Mugler at the Strasbourg School of Decorative Arts and his close friend.

The essence of “size versatility” modelage français is not so much in volume (oversize) as in the pinpoint precision of the pattern. This clothing fits “like a glove” on a French size 42.
